What do I need to bring for South Carolina in person early voting ?

In South Carolina, it is a requirement to present a valid photo identification when casting your vote.

Acceptable forms include for South Carolina in person voting:

  • South Carolina driver’s license or South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles ID Card (includes standard license and REAL ID)
  • South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit
  • South Carolina voter registration card with photo

If you are unable to acquire a photo ID due to a valid obstacle, you have the option to cast a provisional ballot by presenting your voter registration card that does not require a photo.

In case you lack photo identification and there is no valid reason preventing you from obtaining one, or if you inadvertently neglected to bring it to the polling station, you are still eligible to cast a provisional ballot for South Carolina in person voting.

To ensure your vote is counted, you must submit one of the acceptable photo IDs to the election commission before the election is certified, which typically occurs on the Thursday or Friday following the election.
