Stephanie Cozzone quit her job as Human Resource Director for the City of Myrtle Beach yesterday.

It was her first day on the job.

As Mayor Brenda Bethune explained earlier this week, a previous H.R. hire accepted and then also chose not to take the job. Mayor Bethune explained that this hire decided not to relocate her child to Myrtle Beach.

Stephanie Cozzone was based out of Greater Philadelphia and previously worked at Rowan University as Senior Director of Human Resources.

In 2016, Cozzone had annual salary of $97,423 according to public records. This salary is 100 percent higher than average and 171 percent higher than median salary in University Of Rowan.

Reasons were not given for Ms. Cozzone’s decision to quit the position.

The city has been without a Human Resource Director since early 2021 when Dr. Angela Kegglar also decided to leave the position.

High turnover and low morale are hallmarks of the current City of Myrtle Beach employee staff.
