During yesterday’s City Council meeting, Strand Capital presented their proposals for a brand new hotel situated on the oceanfront of Myrtle Beach.
The city is considering the Strand Capital developer’s proposal.
As per the presentation, there will be a total of 227 units in the property, reaching a height of 251 feet and featuring a ground-level pool. Additionally, the establishment will include designated spaces for children and a fitness facility. The hotel’s visual representations also exhibit a rooftop penthouse lounge, a 520 square feet pool, and a bar area with seating arrangements.
The Hilton Grand Vacations hotel called Ocean 23 is set to be built next to Hilton Grand Vacations Ocean 22 on 2200 North Ocean Blvd. It will replace the Boardwalk Beach Resort along with some adjacent land.

The presentation exhibits illustrations depicting the replacement of the Boardwalk Beach Resort with a new high-rise building.
The Horry County government’s website displays a transfer price of $12 million for each plot. It is uncertain whether SCG 2300 paid $12 million for each individual parcel or if SCG 2300 LLC acquired all the plots in a single transaction for $12 million.
Lloyd Daniels is the owner of Strand Capital, while Patrick Lowe, one of the founding members, serves as the leader. Both individuals have connections to a prominent development company in the Grand Strand region. As per the South Carolina Secretary of State’s website, J. Patrick Lowe acts as the registered agent for SCG 2300 LLC. Strand Capital, a top-notch developer in North Myrtle Beach, specializes in constructing ocean timeshare and condominium projects.
The Strand Capital website lists several projects they have developed, such as the Atlantic Breeze Ocean Resort, Anderson Ocean Club, and the upcoming Margaritaville of Myrtle Beach hotel.
Approval from Myrtle Beach is still pending before Strand Capital can commence construction on the hotel.
Myrtle Beach City Manager Jonathan Simons, commonly known as Fox, mentioned in the meeting that the PUD will be presented for a second reading at the city council’s meeting on December 10, 2024.
