Surfside Beach resident drowns while swimming in Myrtle Beach

According to the Horry County Coroner’s Office, a 32-year-old man living near Surfside Beach died Monday morning after being pulled from the ocean in the City of Myrtle Beach and taken to the hospital.

In a news release from the coroner’s office, Christopher Burns is suspected of drowning after being pulled from the ocean near 3rd Ave. South in Myrtle Beach.

There will be an autopsy later this week, and the Myrtle Beach Police Department is investigating.

Since last year, about a dozen people have drowned in the waters around Myrtle Beach.
