TikTok Influencer ordered to pay $1.75 million violates restraining order

DURHAM, NC – Brenay Kennard, the TikTok influencer who ordered to pay $1.75 million to NC mother of two Akira Montague after initiating a torrid affair with Montague’s then husband and flaunting the affair to her social media audience, will be back in court next week after the same reckless behavior that cost her last year led her to repeatedly violate the restraining order included in November’s landmark decision.

Montague is represented by Attorney Robonetta B. Jones. The hearing to enforce the restraining order has been scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, January 15 at the Durham County Courthouse (510 South Dillard St. Durham, NC). Those wishing to cover the hearing should contact the office of the Durham County Clerk of Superior Court. Please note the court is open to the public.

The Impact of a TikTok Influencer on Personal Lives

The restraining order was issued prior to the verdict in Montague’s lawsuit to preclude Kennard from continuing the cyberstalking, harassment, and bullying to which she had subjected Montague. This conduct occurred both during and following the affair, was profoundly humiliating, and resulted in death threats against both Montague and her children. Nonetheless, Kennard promptly resumed the harassment and bullying shortly after the judgment was rendered.

From leveraging her TikTok Influencer social media network to national television appearances, Kennard and Montague’s ex-husband have continued to attack Montague and her children while making wildly false claims about the nature and timeline of their affair which not only occurred well before Montague and her husband were separated, but included instances when the couple had sex in the marital home while Montague was asleep.

As a result of Kennard’s repeated behavior, Montague’s attorneys have filed paperwork to enforce the restraining order, violations of which could cost TikTok Influencer, Kennard thousands of additional dollars and even land her in jail.

“Brenay Kennard has done everything she could to shatter my client’s life and even a $1.75 million judgement and a restraining order wasn’t enough to stop her,” said Jones. “But we’re not going to back down. Not now and not ever.”

“She apparently doesn’t think the rules apply to her. Hopefully the justice system will teach her otherwise.”
