In a release to the public, MBPD posted: Timothy Elbert Aland, 40, of Myrtle Beach, is charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, Failure to Stop for a Blue Light, Possession of Cocaine 3rd Offense, Simple Possession of Marijuana, Driving Under the Influence, Resisting Arrest, Passing Unlawfully on the Left, Reckless Driving, Driving without a License 1st Offense.
“It looked like a chase scene from the Dukes of Hazaard,” said Mark Smith of Charlotte, N.C.
Incident Involving Timothy Elbert Aland
On July 3rd, 2025, at approximately 9:04 p.m., Myrtle Beach Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota 4 Runner at 1200 North Ocean Boulevard.
The driver, Timothy Elbert Aland, failed to comply with officers and fled from the stop.
A second traffic stop was attempted a block north of the original location. Initially the driver stopped but as officers approached the vehicle the driver accelerated striking a bicycle officer. Officers pursued the vehicle, which struck a law enforcement vehicle upon fleeing, and during the pursuit spike strips were successfully deployed.
The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle stopped at 16th Avenue North and Withers Drive. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody. The officer who was struck was taken to the hospital and released with minor injuries.
