Tropical Storm Helene is projected to begin impacting Myrtle Beach at 8 a.m. this morning.
Helene transformed into a tropical storm on Sunday evening as it made its way in a northwestern direction towards South Carolina. It is anticipated that the storm will make landfall on the central coast of South Carolina, specifically at Myrtle Beach, on Monday afternoon while still maintaining its status as a tropical storm.
Presently, the storm is characterized by winds of 45 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and a central pressure of 1006 mb, and it is moving at a speed of 5 mph in a northwest direction.
There is a flash flood watch currently in place as the tropical storm is expected to bring rainfall ranging from 2 to 6 inches across our region.
