Whispering Pines Golf course, owned by the city of Myrtle Beach and managed by Atlantic Golf Management, shut down for upgrades after play concluded on May 23. The course is set to resume operations on Sept. 1.
Tees, greens, and fairways are all scheduled for reseeding with new grass.
Sunday ultradwarf Bermudagrass will be used for the greens, while the tees and fairways will feature Bimini Bermuda, a newer variety being cultivated at a turf farm in Camden. Bimini Bermuda is known for its drought tolerance and durability, potentially surpassing the 419 Bermuda commonly found on fairways throughout the Grand Strand.
