If you are you a fan of streaming services, MyrtleBeachSC News announced today the delay of its upcoming MyrtleBeachSC News and Entertainment TV channel.

The production company managing our three featured shows is headquartered in Los Angeles,” said MyrtleBeachSC C.E.O David Hucks. “They informed us the current strike will delay production until mid July.”

Added Hucks, “A gag order imposed by the Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance on its new C.E.O. will delay the production of the series “Destination Demo” even longer.

According to reports, the writer’s strike is causing delays in content production and distribution across multiple platforms. As a result, it has become challenging for MyrtleBeachSC to secure fresh content for its three new featured T.V. series episodes.

Featured TV shows that will be delayed include: This Is Myrtle Beach, Beach Life, Destination Demo, and The Wonders of the Lowcountry.

Launch of Destination Demo TV series could take even longer

One featured entertainment show in production is a TV series called “Destination Demo”. The series chronicles the issues and challenges faced by the City of Myrtle Beach concerning downtown redevelopment.

The struggles of Myrtle Beach downtown redevelopment have been ongoing for more than 25 years, with the city recently spending over $30 million in land purchases. The issues are compounded by complications that include Horry County government wanting to pull out of a $60 million baseball park investment, leaving the city fully responsible for those costs.

GAG ORDER IMPOSED BY DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT “NOT FOR PROFIT”

The reason for the extended delay in producing Destination Demo has more to do with the GAG order put in place for the newly hired C.E.O. of the Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance, Jason Greene.

A review of the Greene’s employment contract voted on by the Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance board members on Wednesday shows that the contract avoided using the term non-disclosure agreement, or NDA, but the contract certainly restricts speech.

We had hoped to work with Greene highlighting his accomplishments and challenges as he went about his day to day duties,” said Hucks. “This Gag order makes that impossible.

As the Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports:

Greene’s employment contract has “restrictive covenants” barring the new employee from any speech that could impact the goodwill and reputation of the corporation (Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance), it’s board members and the City of Myrtle Beach government.

The contract states in part, “employee specifically agrees not to take any action that impairs the goodwill and reputation of the Corporation or any of the Protected Parties through posting comments and/or reviews on internet platforms, sending letters, texts, and other electronic messages, and speaking on radio, television, video, or podcasting platforms/broadcasts/services.”

Non-disclosure agreements are uncommon for employees who are paid using taxpayer funds and it sets a potentially dangerous precedent that can harm democracy, transparency and ultimately taxpayers who are funding the multi-million dollar operation,” S.C. Press Association attorney Taylor Smith told the Sun News.

Non-disclosure agreements impact our marketplace of ideas, and when that marketplace concerns how public money is used or how decisions are made about public business, the harm to the marketplace can be extreme,” Smith said. “Agreements that suppress information which could be used to create a better-formed democracy … are things that should be avoided.”

WHAT THIS DELAY MEANS?

The delay means that viewers will have to wait a little longer before they can access the new line up of entertainment TV shows on the MyrtleBeachSC Roku channel.

However, it is essential to note that this decision was made in response to circumstances beyond anyone’s control.

We are weighing a soft launch with just our news channel T.V. lineup,” said Hucks. “But featured entertainment is fundamental to our channel, so a soft launch is only in discussion at this time.

What is Roku?

Roku is a digital streaming device that allows users to access various internet-based content on their televisions. It was first introduced in 2008 and has since then become one of the most popular streaming devices available.

The Roku device connects to your TV using an HDMI cable and requires an internet connection for it to work. Once set up, you can access thousands of channels including popular ones such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, and more.

What sets Roku apart from other streaming platforms is its affordability and user-friendly interface. The device is easy to navigate without any complicated setup process or technical expertise required. Roku provides a convenient way for people who don’t want to pay for traditional cable services but still want access to high-quality entertainment at an affordable price.

How long will the channel be delayed?

The launch of the MyrtleBeachSC Roku Channel was originally planned for late May, but it has been delayed until mid-July.

Investors in the channel stated the key reason for this delay is the ongoing Hollywood writer’s strike. This strike has caused a significant disruption in content creation and production schedules across multiple studios and networks. It is unclear how long the strike will continue.

As a result, many new shows that were supposed to debut on various streaming platforms have been postponed. This directly affects all Roku channels as they rely heavily on fresh content from major studios and networks.

Furthermore, with no end in sight for this writer’s strike anytime soon, the delay in launching the Roku Channel could extend even further into August or beyond.

However, rest assured that once everything is sorted out and back on track again, you can expect an amazing lineup of shows and movies available exclusively on MyrtleBeachSC.

In short, while frustrating for those eagerly anticipating its release date announcement – the delay of The Roku Channel’s launch should be seen as necessary given these external factors influencing entertainment production agencies’ ability to produce quality works during these uncertain times.

How will the writer’s strike affect Roku users?

The writer’s strike is likely to have a significant impact on all Roku users. Given that the vast majority of content available on streaming services is written by professional writers, it’s reasonable to assume that there will be a shortage of new material available during the strike.

This could mean less variety in terms of TV shows and movies, as well as delays in the release schedules for new content. As studios struggle to come up with fresh ideas or recycle old ones without their usual writing staff, viewers may find themselves revisiting old favorites more often than they’d like.

While some channels may still be able to air reruns or other pre-existing content during this time, those who rely heavily on new releases might find themselves disappointed. It’s worth noting that not all studios are affected equally by the strike—some have already managed to reach agreements with their writers’ unions—but for many Roku users, the next few months could see a noticeable slowdown in terms of fresh programming.

We promise to keep our viewers and readers well informed as this strike continues,” said Hucks.
