According to documents provided to local news, the owner of a home at 1028 Poplar Drive is now facing 24 Myrtle Beach city code violations. This after the home was heavily policed last week as part of a ‘quality of life’ enforcement.
According to the April 19 complaint, Myrtle Beach’s chief building official found dozens of problems with the 1028 Poplar Drive home during an inspection two days earlier.
Five people were also arrested for drug possession and resisting arrest.
Violations alleged in the complaint include:
Unsuitable for human habitation
Structure that is illegal
Structures or premises that are dangerous
The sanitation system
Drainage and grading
The weeds
Structures that serve as accessories
Disrepair of the exterior
Surfaces on the exterior are not adequately protected
Walls that are insufficient on the outside
Roofs and drainage are inadequate
Windows, skylights, and door frames that are hazardous
Glazing that is inadequate
Doors that are not secured
Disrepair of the interior in general
Surfaces of interiors that are hazardous
Garbage or rubbish accumulating
Rubbish disposal
Plumbing is generally insufficient
Hazards associated with plumbing systems
Maintenance that is inadequate
Hazards associated with electrical systems
Electrical systems installed incorrectly
Smoke alarms that are defective or missing
According to the complaint, a public hearing with property owner Dustin Thompkins will take place at 8:30 a.m. on May 8.
