MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (December 14, 2023) – HTC Inc. has donated a total of $3,000 towards the BBB Torch Scholarships fund for students in Horry, Georgetown, and Marion counties to apply for. Applications will close on January 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Students and businesses should apply before then to ensure they are considered for scholarships and/or the Spark Jr Award.
In total, BBB will award more than $25,000 in scholarships to students this year. The 2024 Better Business Bureau serving Eastern Carolinas (BBB) Torch Scholarships are open to college-bound high school seniors and college undergraduates who reside or attend school within BBB serving Eastern Carolinas’ 48-county service area. The 2024 BBB Spark Jr Award recognizes current high school students who display entrepreneurship. Either a business operated by a student or a business model developed by a student for future execution will qualify. Applicants must reside or attend school within BBB serving Eastern Carolinas’ 48-county service area. The winner receives a $500 cash prize! Apply here.
BBB also has awards for businesses of all types and sizes. The 2024 BBB Torch Awards honor companies and charities within our service area which demonstrate a high level of character and ensure the organizations’ practices meet the highest standards of ethics. The 2024 BBB Spark Award is bestowed upon business leaders age 35 and younger or new entrepreneurs of any age operating a business for less than 3 years in our 48-county service area. Consumers and businesses can also nominate a business leader they feel is actively working to maintain an ethical marketplace while connecting with its community. As in the past, a minimum donation of $1,000 is required for a named scholarship. But please be aware any size donation to our scholarship fund is greatly appreciated. Contributors of $200-$999 will be grouped together to fund $1,000 scholarships and listed as donors.
