A new end of 2023 report from moveBuddha has S.C. ranked as the number one moved into state in America. The report also shows Myrtle Beach as the number 2 moved into city in America.

This, as residents of blue states continue their migration away from liberal taxation issues, as well as, high crime and sanctuary city issues.

The most popular state to move to in 2023 is South Carolina, with an in-to-out move ratio of 2.1, which means twice as many moves are coming in as heading out, plus it earns the highest net searches per capita.

The percentage change in mover search interest in West Virginia from 2022 to 2023 was +60%.

A number of states, including South Carolina, Montana, North Carolina, Colorado, Tennessee, and Maine, attracted movers because of their affordability and mountain terrain.

Top move-to city, The Villages: Florida’s famous retirement community had 375 moves in for every 100 out in 2023. Other top move-to cities include #2 Myrtle Beach (SC), #3 Asheville (NC), #4 Ocala (FL), and #5 Summerville (SC).

  • Myrtle Beach had 282 searches for moves in for every 100 headed out. That means nearly 3 times more were looking to move into the city than head out. The only city that had a higher move-in ratio was The Villages, FL.
  • Of all the states, South Carolina ranked #1 for inflow in 2023. With a 2.1 move in-to-out ratio, meaning that for every 210 moves headed in there were 100 headed out. SC also scored the highest net searches per capita nationwide.
  • 3 other SC cities landed on the list of top 25 move-to cities: #5 Summerville, #6 Greenville, and #20 Charleston.

While the real estate industry is cooling, it remains stronger here with S.C. ranked as the number one moved into state in America
