In a long awaited trial date, Chad Thugzilla Caton will finally appear before Judge William Seals in an Horry County Courtroom July 31st through August 4th.

Caton is being sued by Matthew McDaniel for a brutal incident that occurred at the ROCK THE RED convention in 2021.

Caton has limited influence in Horry County politics today, but at the time of the event he was considered a significant force in the HCGOP.

The HCGOP leadership of that era put out a statement apologizing for statements made in defense of Caton’s behavior.

The apology was posted publicly on the existing HCGOP website. The former Horry County Republican Party leadership team of Roger Slagle (Former Chairman) and Tracy Bean Diaz (Former State E.C.) apologized to Rock The Red attendee Matthew McDaniel.

The trial is a non jury trial held in the 15th Circuit. Judge William Seals will be the decision maker in the outcome of how the trial is decided.

McDaniel is represented by the Player Law firm out of Columbia, S.C. It is unclear what, if any, legal representation Chad Thugzilla Caton has at this time.

Caton publicly denounced the leadership of MySCGOP last year in a contentious campaign for the SCGOP Party Chairmanship. Many S.C. politicos claim that Caton’s remarks and efforts help sabotage the candidacy of Jeff Davis of Greenville, S.C.

Prior to those efforts, Davis was considered one of Caton’s largest supporters.

Davis leads a team that annually puts on the ROCK THE RED convention in Greenville, S.C.

Caton cut all ties to the HCGOP as well, denouncing its current leadership. Caton also finds himself at odds with SCGOP Chairman Drew McKissick. Caton consistently calls McKissick a “petulant child.”

The outspoken activist finds himself at odds with practically the entire Horry County conservative movement, with the exception of a handful of loyalists.

Chad Thugzilla Caton now largely works on commentary concerning national political figures. His average audience views range from 300 viewers regularly, to just over 1,000 viewers on occasion.
