It does not matter how perfect your home was in the past; time changes things. Not only does it change your tastes, but time fades things, wears them out, and fashions change. Also, new technology and progress means is that there is more choice than ever before when it comes to décor. What this also means is that there is no need to have a home that does not inspire you when a simple upgrade can change the look and feel of your home. There is so much choice that you are bound to find something to suit your individual tastes.

New Flooring

Carpet, laminate, wood, etc., all get worn out over time. If you want to make your home look and feel a lot better, then you could start there. Why not sand down old wooden floors and then revarnish or paint them with a new colored wood stain? If you are going for laminate or carpet, perhaps you could add a luxury underlay beneath it. And don’t forget all your rooms. Think about a new garage carpet, or attic and basement carpet.

Painting

Paint has the power to completely transform any room. You can go from plain to bold and cover up any stains or mark very simply. And the best thing is that it is simple to do yourself and it is pretty low cost. Walls are the most obvious feature that you can paint. Perhaps you should do some investigation into color and discover what color is best for the mood you want that room to generate. You can also paint doors, skirting, and furniture. You can even paint the floor if you are brave enough. In some cases, a mural may be what is in order for your room, or what about painting a room with two different colors? Maybe get a little creative, especially if you want a home to inspire.

Paneling

Paneling is another great thing to transform a room. It adds texture to your walls and can give off a much more expensive look. It can help create a feel for your home, like rustic, barn-like, or old-fashioned, gothic, etc. Just investigate the types of paneling that would suit your tastes and go from there. Paneling may look complicated, but like painting, you can actually install it pretty easily yourself. However, if you are not exactly a handyman, it may be an idea to get a professional

Change Fixtures

This is a great budget way of making the kitchen and bathroom appear newish. By taking off the old faucets, drawer knobs, and handles and changing them to something new, you can almost fool people, and yourself into thinking it has all been upgraded, but at a fraction of the cost. Also, you can change all the door handles in your home if you feel the need.

Create Space

Okay, you can’t magic space out of thin air, but you can give off the illusion of more space. To do this upgrade, paint walls, ceilings, doors a lighter color, strategically palace mirrors to rebound more light, change curtains and clean the windows. If you live on the main road, you may be surprised how black the outside of your windows gets. You can even rearrange the furniture to make more space.
