Katrina Morrison told MyrtleBeachSC News today, “I am running for Chairperson of Horry County Council in hopes of bringing the people of Horry County back to the top of the organizational chart.

She added: There are those who are born and raised here being displaced and ignored in the name of progress and those who have chosen to move here for decades, as well as at the present time who are also being ignored.

I have been actively speaking out regarding the over development, the complete disregard for the 2040 Comprehensive Plan, future land use criteria, as well as the many other issues Horry County residents are facing.

If elected as Chairperson of Horry County Council I will do my best to incorporate my knowledge and life experience to steer the county back to an undivided community that works together for the common good.

The Horry County Council is the governing body of Horry County, South Carolina. The partisan council has 12 members representing 11 districts, plus an at-large chairman elected by the entire county.

Johnny Gardner is the current Horry County Council chairman. Gardner informed MyrtleBeachSC News that he does intend to run for reelection in the June 14th Republican primary.

Also running are Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce insider Mark Lazarus and current council member Johnny Vaught.
