Today, MyrtleBeachSC News met with the author of “Authority Catalyst”, Andrea Albright. Andrea is also the Founder and CEO of Beverly Hills Publishing. You can hear her comments of today in the video above.

In 2023, Americans are considering who can and who can not be trusted among big pharmacy, big tech, big government, Corporate America, government agencies, the local grocery store and even in areas as close to home as the neighbor two doors down the street.

While “Authority Catalyst” transcends government and business, the fundamental elements expressed in the book are foundational for 2023 America.

Says Albright, “The world is starved for leadership and “experts” are one seminar away from being replaced. Leaders with integrity, honesty and sincerity are in the realm of Authority.”

We asked Albright to define the difference between power and authority. Albright states that power comes with a given job title or office position. People do not naturally trust nor follow power, however, unless the person holding power also possesses authority. Authority is and has always been the true ingredient of trust in the modern world.

How does a person, business or institution achieve authority? “It is an inside job,” says Albright.

To be an authority means you hold the most trusted position in our society today. Whether you manage a company brand, a political office, a high level C.E.O. position, or are a highly valued employee, when you operate in true authority, people will trust and follow you.

Albright says that, unfortunately, leaders today allow their ego to call the shots and grab the fame, money and power rather than stand aligned with who they are as a person.

In her book, Authority Catalyst, readers discover:

  • How you align integrity with your soul.
  • The difference between Positional Power, an Expert and an Authority
  • Why Authorities with integrity are needed now more than ever
  • What is needed to up level from being a common Expert to Authority status
  • Why staying too busy is the number one deterrent to becoming a true Authority

TRUST STARVED – THE AUTHORITY VACUUM IN 2023

We are currently living in an era of deep distrust of many American institutions.

BIG PHARMA – NO LONGER AS TRUSTED AS BEFORE

A new report out by Caliber found that in 2022 only four out of 10 people were likely to say something positive about a pharma company.

Drilling down into individual companies, Haleon, which recently spun out from GSK’s consumer unit, ranked as the most respected brand in Caliber’s 2022 survey. It won out after checking patients’ boxes of inclusion, environmental concern and social responsibility.

But on the other end of the spectrum, Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer and AstraZeneca are among the worst-perceived companies in the sector, with all but Novartis vaccine makers for COVID.

American Trust in Government – Pew Research

The public’s criticisms of the federal government are many and varied. Results from a July 2022 Pew Research survey shows that: Just 6% say the phrase “careful with taxpayer money” describes the federal government extremely or very well; another 21% say this describes the government somewhat well. A comparably small share (only 8%) describes the government as being responsive to the needs of ordinary Americans.

American Trust in Big Tech – Pew Research

As the Summer 2022 pew research chart below shows, 64% of America finds that Twitter, Facebook, Google, and other social platforms are a bad thing for America. These survey results were taken last Summer, before Elon Musk purchased Twitter and before the Federal Government began a high profile Monopoly Lawsuit against Google.

American Trust in FBI, Homeland Security and IRS – Pew Research

America is now more divided than ever on their trust for high level bureaucrats in government.

While Democrats rate these agencies above 60% trustworthy, now only 27% of Republicans do.

According to a March 2022 Pew Research finding: There were higher rates of trust among Democrats (60%) compared to Republicans (27%) and independents (26%). The Pew Research Center has found since the 1970s trust in the government has been higher among individuals whose political party controls the White House; however, Republicans tend to be “more reactive” to changes in leadership than Democrats have been, the report noted.
