While Medicare is a great program that provides millions of seniors and people with disabilities access to affordable healthcare, there are some additional options that those enrolled in Medicare should be aware of. Let’s take a closer look at each of these!

These plans provide all of the same coverage as Original Medicare (Parts A and B), but they may also offer additional benefits, such as coverage for prescription drugs, vision, and dental. If you look at secure horizons plans, you’ll see that they offer a wide variety of different benefits, such as routine dental and vision care, prescription drug coverage, and more. Certain extras come with these plans, such as fitness plans, that can help to save you money and keep you healthy!

Medicare Advantage plans typically have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare, but they may have higher premiums.

Medicare Supplement Plans

Medicare Supplement plans are also offered by private insurance companies, and they help to cover some of the costs that Original Medicare does not cover. These plans are also known as “Medigap” plans. There are 10 different types of Medigap plans, each of which covers different costs. For example, Plan A covers hospitalization costs, while Plan B covers medical expenses. Some plans cover both hospitalization and medical expenses.

Additionally, some plans cover prescription drugs, and there are even high-deductible plans that have lower premiums but require you to pay more out of pocket before your coverage kicks in.

Part D Plans

Part D plans are prescription drug plans that are offered by private insurance companies and approved by Medicare. These plans help to cover the costs of prescription drugs. Part D plans have a yearly deductible, co-payments, and co-insurance.

To get a Part D plan, you must first enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Supplement plan. Once you have one of these plans, you can then enroll in a Part D plan.

Additionally, you can also get a Part D plan if you have Original Medicare. However, you will need to pay a late enrollment penalty if you do not enroll in a Part D plan when you are first eligible.

Medicaid

Medicaid is a state and federal program that provides health coverage to low-income people, families, children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Medicaid covers a wide range of health care services, such as doctor visits, hospitalizations, prescription drugs, vision care, and more.

However, each state has different eligibility requirements for Medicaid. To be eligible for Medicaid in most states, you must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, have a low income, and meet other eligibility requirements, like being pregnant or having a disability.

If you are not sure if you qualify for Medicaid, you can contact your state’s Medicaid office to find out more information.

VA Health Care System

The VA healthcare system is a government-run healthcare system that provides coverage to veterans, their spouses, and their dependent children. The VA health care system also offers a wide range of health care services, including primary care, mental health care, prescription drugs, and more.

Of course, to be eligible for coverage through the VA health care system, you must be a veteran, a spouse or dependent child of a veteran, or an active duty service member.

If you are not sure if you qualify for coverage through the VA health care system, you can contact your local VA medical center to find out more information.

Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)

PACE is a Medicaid and Medicare program that provides health care and social services to seniors who are struggling to live independently. PACE helps seniors to stay in their homes and communities rather than moving into a nursing home or other long-term care facility.

PACE services include primary care, prescription drugs, rehabilitation, home health care, and more. To be eligible for PACE, you must be 55 years of age or older, live in a PACE-eligible state, have Medicare and/or Medicaid, and meet other eligibility requirements.

If you think you might be eligible for PACE, you can contact your local PACE program to find out more information.

As you can see, there are several different health care options available to Medicare users. These include prescription drug discount cards, Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare Supplement plans, Part D plans, Medicaid, and the VA health care system.

Each of these options has its own set of benefits and eligibility requirements. Be sure to do your research to find the best health care option for you and your family!
