Myrtle Beach hotels and condos will see as much as 50% of their business drop Mondays through Thursdays starting August 15th. The calendar designates the first day for S.C. students to return to school as Monday, August 15, 2022. Current state law requires that no South Carolina public school start classes before the third Monday in August.

North Carolina schools start one week later. North Carolina is Myrtle Beach’s top feeder state.

While NY, PA, and Ohio public schools start as late as the first week of September, the impact of school openings in the south will put an end to week day business for all Myrtle Beach Hotels.

In fact, the is the last peak week for Myrtle Beach tourism.

Summer 2022 will show a dip in tourism from 2021. However, this does not indicate 2022 was a weak summer.

2021 was the most successful year in the history of the Myrtle Beach DMA for tourism.

The numbers could only go down in 2022.
