Tourists who enjoy cruising Ocean Boulevard will need to slow down begging immediately. The City of Myrtle Beach just reduced the Ocean Boulevard speed limit to 25 miles per hour city-wide.

Several speed-related complaints were received along Ocean Boulevard and the city decided to reduce the speed limit to 25 mph along its entire length, according to city spokesperson Mark Kruea.

The Ocean Boulevard speed limit previously had a 35 mph speed limit from Farrow Parkway to 29th Avenue S, 33rd Avenue N to 52nd Avenue N, Seaside Place to 67th Avenue N, and north of 77th Avenue N.

The Public Works Department made the announcement, Kruea said.

WHAT IS OCEAN BOULEVARD?

Ocean Boulevard is a popular destination for cruising in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It is a vibrant and bustling street that runs parallel to the beach, offering a wide range of attractions, entertainment, dining options, shopping opportunities, and breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. It became famous for cruising in the late 1960’s. The Myrtle Beach Pavilion was the central cruising location on that strip.

Along Ocean Boulevard, you’ll find numerous hotels and resorts, making it a convenient location for visitors who want easy access to the beach. Many of these accommodations also offer amenities such as pools, restaurants, and beachfront access.

The boulevard is known for its lively atmosphere, especially during the summer months when tourists flock to the area. You can expect to find people strolling along the sidewalks, enjoying the ocean breeze, and taking in the sights.

There are several iconic landmarks along Ocean Boulevard, including the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel – a towering Ferris wheel that provides panoramic views of the city and the coastline. The SkyWheel is particularly stunning at night when it lights up with colorful LED lights.

Additionally, many restaurants and bars line the boulevard, offering a diverse range of cuisines and dining experiences. Whether you’re craving fresh seafood, international fare, or classic American dishes, you’ll find plenty of options to satisfy your taste buds.

Ocean Boulevard is also home to various entertainment venues, including arcades, theaters, and live music venues. You can catch a show, enjoy a game of mini-golf, or challenge your friends to a round of go-kart racing.
