Changing the interior of your home doesn’t always have to break the bank; in fact, you can make big changes well within any budget you set.
It is important to keep in mind you don’t live in a makeover show – and you don’t have to have everything done in 60 minutes. It can take months if you need to.
So how can you get a great upgrade in your kitchen on a budget?
Learn to love
One thing you probably won’t be able to change when your budget is tight is the current kitchen layout. If you know that it is something you either can’t afford to change or don’t have permission to do so, then it is important you just learn to love the layout.
It might not be to your tastes, but as the saying goes, change the things you can and accept the things you can’t.
Paint
Painting is one of the fastest ways to completely change how a room looks. What makes the kitchen an interesting prospect to paint is that you can get paint for any surface.
You’ll need to start with really clean surfaces, so get yourself some sugar soap and start scrubbing down all of the surfaces that you intend on painting.
If you want to make a room lighter and brighter, then most often, white will do the trick. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to choose paint that is suitable for the kitchen or the bathroom.
Keep in mind that you can paint each part over time, and you don’t need to rush to get it all done.
Details
The small details in the kitchen can make everything look different. Even changing the cabinet handles can refresh the kitchen with little effort; check out these kitchen cabinet hardware ideas for more!
If you have a tiled backsplash, you can change that too! There are many different options for tile paint. Alternatively, you can install a sticky back plastic backsplash to add a little color and interest.
If you have a marble or wood countertop, a deep clean can usually bring them up lovely, and find a food-friendly sealant for your wood.
Cupboards
If you want to make a fast change without doing too much at all, you can remove the cupboard doors. All of your cabinets will then have an open-faced kind of feel, and that can make the kitchen that seems airier.
This only really works if you’re quite tidy and have everything exactly already. If not, you might need to watch a few episodes of the home edit for some inspiration.
Shelving
If you have some wall space that is currently unused, you can create some stunning features with fake plants (or real ones if you can keep them alive), artwork, and other small pieces. This is a very cheap way to add some fun to your kitchen.
