Annual weather patterns and extreme temperatures can wreak havoc on your home’s exterior. As time passes, you will want to update the outside of your home and the landscape to keep it fresh, vibrant, and appealing.

Redo Your Exterior

Your home’s exterior facade is a representation of your personal style. While there are several unique options to choose from, opting for high-quality siding from a licensed siding contractor is an excellent choice. Siding can last for years if it is properly installed by a contractor with experience. It is a durable and attractive selection for when you are looking for a change.

If new windows and doors are in order, have them installed at the same time as the siding to make the process even easier and get your whole house refreshed.

Update Your Lighting

After refinishing your home with stylish new siding, you will want to update the lighting to match. This is the perfect time to take note of any areas on your property where there were shadows or unlit areas that you want to correct. Add additional lighting on any outbuildings or sheds in addition to the backyard, as needed.

Take advantage of technology when installing your new lights. Some items to consider are LED lights, motion sensors, timers, and smart systems that will connect with an app and personal digital assistants.

Refresh Your Landscaping

As time passes, the dirt in your yard can shift. Mulch fades and washes away. Plants die off, grow too slowly, or grow in abundance overtaking your flower beds. Whatever the case may be, take the opportunity to make some landscaping changes.

If you are invested in the butterfly’s plight, try introducing milkweed or zinnia plants. There are a multitude of low-maintenance plants if that is your preference. Should you have a green thumb and be interested in gardening, now is a great time to plan that out, as well. Add in some barriers or decorative fencing to keep hungry creatures at bay.

Some strategically placed solar-powered landscaping lights will highlight your beautiful work. Here is a video with tips on how to best install outdoor landscape lighting.

Do Your Research

No matter how great of a rapport you have established with a contractor, you must perform due diligence research. People can prove themselves to be personable – even someone with whom you would enjoy spending time. What matters most, however, is researching any person or company that you intend to engage with in business.

Vet all of the contractors that you are interested in working with. It may take some time at the beginning of the process, but it will be more than worth it when the job is done well and to your specifications. Ask a series of questions regarding previous work completed, contact information for those jobs, and if they have ever worked on a request or design similar to the one you are requesting. Take it a step further and check with the Better Business Bureau to ascertain whether there have been any complaints or action items against the company.

Schedule your exterior home improvements today. You will be glad you did when you drive up to your house and see how eye-catching and inviting it is.
