Speaking downstairs at the Governor’s Office at the State House today, Candidate for U.S. 7th Congressional District Mark McBride rebuked Horry County State Senator Luke Rankin on his demand that all S.C. school children should be mandated to wear masks.

When questioned today, Governor McMaster responded that while individuals should be vaccinated, it was up to the individual to get a vaccine or to wear a mask in public.

When asked pointedly today on his thoughts about South Carolina State Epidemiologist Dr. Linda Bell saying that masks should be used in schools since children under 12 cannot be vaccinated, McMaster said, “Parents — regardless of what the experts say — must be the ones to make decisions about their children.”

Candidate Mark McBride, in support of the Governor, pointed out Luke Rankin’s past hypocrisy on this issue.

McBride called the doctors posing with Molly Spearman today – the special interest, medical PAC.

Like Governor McMaster, McBride believes parents should decide if their school children should wear masks or not wear them. He doesn’t believe this matter should be dictated by state politicians.
