From humble beginnings to becoming a beacon of hope for the community, Richardson’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Richardson has a compelling vision and unstoppable spirit that are set to redefine what it means to be mayor in this vibrant Southern town!

Richardson is a lifelong resident of Conway and a graduate of Conway High School. He has been active in the community, serving on the boards of multiple local organizations.

Whether your family has been here for generations, or recently moved to town, Richardson has a compelling message for all residents alike. Richardson embodies the the spirit and values of Conway.

The population of Conway was 23,119 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Horry County and is part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. Conway is home to two colleges: Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College.

The city was founded in 1732 as “King’s Grant”. It was renamed in 1766 for General Robert Conway who had fought in both the French and Indian War and the American Revolutionary War. The city grew rapidly in the 1960’s as people from all over the United States moved to South Carolina to find work and retire in the burgeoning county seat.

  1. Ken Richardson is a qualified leader with a proven track record.

He has served as Chairman of the Horry County School Board, Chairman of the Board – Horry Georgetown Technical College, and the Coastal Carolina University Board.

If elected, Richardson plans to focus on creating opportunities for all residents of Conway, regardless of race or income level. He believes that by investing in education, workforce training, and small business development, Conway can become a thriving community for its working residents and those who have retired here.

  1. Richardson is committed to making Conway a safe place to work, grow and live, maintaining the city’s long held values and small town appeal. His life long residency has provided him with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that Conway faces.

He supports measures to create more opportunities for young people to get involved in their community through mentorship programs and after-school activities.
