The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers hammered the Marshall Thundering Herd tonight at home in Conway in a game that was never in question.

First year coach Tim Beck got off to a slow start this season. Coastal came into tonight’s game at 4 wins and three losses. These are subpar numbers for the school according to recent history.

Tonight’s game was a one sided affair, however, as the Thundering Herd from Marshall never led nor challenged the lead.

The Chants drove down on their possession kicking a field goal. The team later scored a touchdown on back up quarterback Jarrett Guest’s pass downfield. Starter Grayson McCall did not play, however, Guest was excellent on the night.

One field goal on an extended drive and yet another on a botched and fumbled Coastal Kickoff, were the only points Marshall were able to score on the night.

The game was put to bed in the first few seconds of the fourth quarter when Marshall Quarterback Cam Fancher fumbled the ball on his own 1 yard line.

Coastal Carolina quickly scored making the game 34 to 6 as fans on the bleachers of both sides of the stadium began to exit.

The 5-3 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will play their next game at Old Dominion next Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The Thundering Herd fall to 4 wins and 4 losses after tonight’s blow out.
