Ken Richardson officially filed the paperwork and fees necessary to register for the November 2023 Fall Mayor of Conway, S.C. race.

Campaign Manager Chelsea Sanderson attended the signing. Said Sanderson, “It’s go time. I’m expecting a baby due on November 15 and expecting a new Mayor on Election Day November 7. Let’s have some fun!

The entire town is buzzing and excited about the Richardson Fall Mayor of Conway campaign.

As MyrtleBeachSC News headed to the Crafty Rooster for one of their famous “Conway Burgers”, we spotted a Conway resident driving the below camouflage truck.

Richardson is a lifelong resident of Conway and is well known by the residents of the town and Conway Town Council.

The current Mayor of Conway has previously made it a practice to, at times, work unilaterally, without first approaching the entire council as a whole.

Over the course of his life, Richardson has proven to be a team player while working as Board President of Horry Georgetown Tech, on the board of Coastal Carolina University, and while serving as Board Chairman of Horry County Schools.


As of August 2023, the duties of the Mayor of Conway, SC are as follows:

1. Executive Leadership: The Mayor serves as the chief executive officer of the city, providing overall leadership and direction.

2. City Council Meetings: The Mayor presides over city council meetings, setting the agenda, maintaining order, and ensuring that decisions are made in accordance with established rules and regulations.

3. Strategic Planning: The Mayor is responsible for creating and implementing long-term strategic plans for the city’s growth and development. This includes working with other city officials, community stakeholders, and consultants to identify priorities and set goals.

4. Budgeting and Financial Management: The Mayor collaborates with the city council and relevant departments to develop and implement the annual budget.
