North Myrtle Beach man’s tires slashed on video

The North Myrtle Beach police department needs your help in identifying a person who they videoed slashing a tire this past December.

A North Myrtle Beach man said his family’s weekly trip for ice cream took a frightening turn in December when they had their tires slashed. Fortunately North Myrtle Beach police caught the incident in action on video.

When we pulled out, I noticed the tire was flat,” Mark, who didn’t want to give his last name, said. “So, I pulled over across the street and saw that it had been slashed.”

Before stabbing the tire and walking away, the suspect was caught on camera walking beside the family’s car.

The slasher was the same person Mark had honked at minutes earlier for swerving into his lane.

A man in an SUV followed the family into the parking lot before making his move, Mark said.

I think he was pretty calculated in his moves,” Mark noted. “He was watching us. He was watching the car. He was on the lookout.

Getting a new tire cost Mark around $500, but he used the incident as a learning experience.

The kids learned how to change a tire and that when something goes wrong, it isn’t the end of the world; just fix it and carry on. I was a little angry, but it was a learning experience for them,” Mark said.
