Corey Allen is the publisher of the Overton Report. This media publication puts sunlight on all matters S.C. government. Allen is a conservative. His reporting is also very conservative.
This past week, McClatchy News’ “THE STATE NEWSPAPER” did everything it could to paint Allen as an extremist.
McClatchy’s “The State Newspaper” writes: In recent years, more and more Republican candidates are bypassing the mainstream media to speak directly with “real” people, who often provide a friendlier audience, said Knotts, the College of Charleston political scientist.
“Particularly on the far right, the mainstream media is the enemy,” he said, adding that speaking with supporters allows candidates to control the narrative and get their message in front of other like-minded people who consume that sort of media.
Ellen Weaver is a conservative running against the left’s Kathy Maness. Maness is leveraging the mainstream media to do an all out full court press on Weaver. The campaign has gotten nasty.

The campaign will run its course, however.
The residue of these attacks matter. Will readers continue to trust the Overton Report after the verbal assaults by Main Stream Media?
We spoke with Allen. He told MyrtleBeachSC News, he believes conservative voices are finding media like his for the very reasons that they aren’t being heard.
Allen is constantly attacked for exposing the left. Allen says, however, it is the RINOS hiding out as Republicans who are most skilled at fighting unfairly.
The Overton Report continues to grow in viewership and trust.
Allen is someone the left, as well as, Main Stream Media will have to make allowances for. We live in an ever changing world.
