Myrtle Beach, SC –  Project Golf, a nonprofit organization advocating for golf as an impactful and therapeutic tool to enrich the quality of life for all veterans, has teamed up with Tito’s Handmade Vodka to acquire a brand new paramobile golf cart. This cart allows golfers with disabilities to stand upright with ease and increase the range of motion in their swing. The new paramobile cart will be used for the nonprofit’s veterans program, PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), which introduces golf to veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.

The funding from Tito’s Handmade Vodka was provided in celebration of Project Golf’s fifth anniversary. The support has enabled the nonprofit to purchase its own paramobile cart – one of only a few of its kind in Myrtle Beach. Typically valued at $30K, these state-of-the-art carts offer players the ability to transition to a standing position, facilitating a more effective angle for playing. Swinging from a seated position, as most wheelchair-bound golfers do, can be difficult. By bringing the player up to a standing position, the overall golf experience is improved

We are so happy to be once again working with Tito’s Handmade Vodka to support our veterans,” said Gary Schaal, Executive Director of Project Golf – PGA and Past President of the PGA of America. “The game of golf has so many physical and mental benefits, and the new paramobile cart will help bring those benefits to Myrtle Beach veterans in a fun and innovative way.

Golf Project

In addition to funding the paramobile cart, Tito’s will also sponsor two of Project Golf’s PGA HOPE sessions, which would not have otherwise been available to participants. Additionally, Tito’s will provide branded golf merchandise to the winners of the sessions’ “skills challenge.” The classes will encompass veterans from all branches of the military, featuring golfers with varying skill levels and experience. Through the program, veterans will graduate with an improved quality of life through golf, community engagement, and tactical skills to overcome challenges that they face.

Each year, 150-175 veterans graduate from a developmental program hosted by Project Golf that is designed to enhance their physical and mental well-being through the game of golf. Over the past five years, Project Golf has helped improve the quality of life for 500+ veterans through top-quality instruction taught by local PGA professionals certified in adaptive golf tailored specifically for disabled veterans. Additionally, Project Golf offers veterans access to equipment, accessibility assistance, and introduction to local facilities and active golf leagues, ensuring they can focus on their abilities and enjoy the benefits of the sport.

At Tito’s, we are always looking at how we can turn spirits into love and goodness,” says Lindsey Bates, Director of Philanthropy Operations at Tito’s Handmade Vodka. “We are such a fan of Project Golf’s mission to enrich the quality of life for veterans through golf and are honored to continue to be able to give back to the Myrtle Beach veteran community.”

The two Tito’s-sponsored PGA HOPE classes will be taking place on April 16 and June 17.
