A fugitive is in custody after barricading himself into a room at the Happy Holiday Hotel on 508 North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.

The ordeal was an hours-long police standoff between police and the suspect.

A Myrtle Beach police report stated: An armed, heavy police presence was on the scene early Tuesday morning after a man barricaded himself in the Happy Holiday Hotel on N. Ocean Blvd.

We are negotiating with a barricaded person at the Happy Holiday,” Myrtle Beach Police spokesperson Master Cpl. Tom Vest said. “The area is secure and officers will remain on scene while the incident is ongoing.

Around 10:30 a.m., Vest said police had the person in custody and would only say the person had been wanted.

The identity of the person has not been released yet.
