Living in Myrtle Beach means that most of us spend a lot of time enjoying life on the beach, which is great, but it can mean that we spend so much time at the beach that we simply end up feeling a little bored.

If you love the beach, but you’re bored with the same old sunbathing, walking along the beachfront, and swimming in the sea, here are a few things you can do to shake things up and start having even more fun at the beach.

1. Pack a picnic

There is nothing quite like packing a picnic of your favorite foods and drinks along with a comfy blanket and a few board games and having a beach-based picnic party with your best friends.

2. Fly a drone

If you are looking for a new beach-based hobby, then investing in a drone, like the excellent Mini 3, could be just the thing to inspire you once more. Why have a drone on the beach? Because you can take much more impressive photos of the sweeping vistas on the beachfront and all around Myrtle Beach. If you have any interest at all in photography, then flying your own drone to get the best sots will make it so much more fun.

3. Try a treasure hunt

If you have kids, and you’re looking for new ways to make days out at the beach fun, then there is a lot to be said for setting up your own treasure hunt. Find a quiet part of the beach to bury/hide your treasure and then write a number of clues, or draw a map, that the kids can use to hunt it down and claim their prize. Not only will this increase your beach-based fun, but it will endure that your kids are very active at the same time too.

4. Do some journaling

If you’re looking for a more sedate way to enjoy your time at the beach, then bringing along a journal and pen could be a good option. You can do some people watching and write down your observations about the day; you can write poetry as you are inspired by the sun beating down on the sand and the gentle roar of the ocean; you can write about your thoughts and feelings. Basically, if you have pen and paper with you at the beach, you can be creative as you soak up the atmosphere, which is great for a bit of low-key fun.

5. Talk to people

The people of Myrtle Beach are some of the friendliest around, so next time you are at the beach, why not strike up a conversation with the people you see who seem friendly and up for a chat? You will probably find that there are a lot of fun people for you to get to know, and time spent at the beach in good company is always a lot of fun.

If you’re too shy to approach people, look for meetups and clubs that take place at the beach and sign up for one of them instead.

6. Collect seashells

This might not sound like the most interesting way to spend your time at the beach, but if you take it seriously and start searching out the biggest, prettiest, or most unusual shells, it’s really easy to get hooked on building your collection and you will probably find that you really get into it.

You can use the shells to make jewelry or crafts when you get home, which means this can be an excellent hobby on and off the beach.

7. Look for wildlife

The beach is teeming with all kinds of interesting critters that it can be a lot of fun hunting for. From crabs and starfish to seals and seabirds, make a chart and see how many unique creatures you can tick off. There is nothing like watching the beauty of nature unfold to really make you feel good about life, and by turning the viewing of nature into a game, you can convince the kids to play along with you too.

8. Pick up trash

Okay, so this may not sound like fun, but if you band a bunch of friends together to volunteer, and you take your time to walk along the beach picking up trash, you will have lots of fun chatting away with each other, while you also do a good thing for your local community, which is sure to give you a happy glow at the end of the day.

9. Create sand art

Sandy beaches are great for anyone who has a creative streak. You can take a stick and start drawing all manners of patterns and portraits in the tiny grains of sand. You can take it seriously and create your very own masterpiece, or simply have some fun with it snd draw lots of fun doodles on the beachfront. If you’re lucky, passersby will also join in and you can have your own impromptu art club going on right there on the beach.

10. Watch the sun rise and set

One of the simplest pleasures at the beach is finding a comfy spot to sit with a loved one and watch the sun come up in the morning or go down in the evening. The skies are vibrant and the company is great and it makes you feel so glad to simply be alive on this planet at this moment in time. It’s such a simple thing, but it really is one of the nicest things to do at the beach.

11. Build sand sculptures

Perhaps, the ultimate way to make your time at the beach more fun is to start sculpting your own sandcastles, mermaids, ships, and whatever else you can think of. Let your imagination run wild and have a whale of a time.

As you can see, there are lots of different activities you can incorporate into your time at the beach to make it more fun for you.
