As New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and practically all northeastern big city residents flee violent inner city crime, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is the best city for new home building in 2023.

Couple that with housing prices up like a rocket over the last few years in most metro areas, it’s a boom time for home builders.

The Myrtle Beach DMA runs from Aynor, S.C. to Conway into Myrtle Beach and runs north from Little River to Georgetown, S.C. The area has grown by 24% annually over the past 5 years.

A new moveBuddha report identified the top 20 U.S. cities for new homes, and based on new homes per 100,000 residents, Myrtle Beach took the #1 spot by a wide margin.

The top 5 cities for new housing build areas include:

  1. Myrtle Beach, S.C.
  2. North Port, Fl
  3. Lakeland, Fl
  4. Orlando, Fl
  5. Atlanta, Ga

    • Myrtle Beach has 10,688 new homes in 2023 per every 100,000 residents, which is double the rate of #2 North Port, FL, and triple the rate of #3 Lakeland, Florida.
    • Ranked as the #1 fastest-growing place for three years in a row by U.S. News, it’s no surprise that the new homes are cranking in Myrtle Beach, SC.

The South and the Sunbelt dominated the top 20 list of best cities for new homes, with six Florida cities ranked in the top 20. However, when it comes to new homes, there’s no better place in the U.S. right now than Myrtle Beach.

Over the past 5 years the trend continues listing Myrtle Beach best city new for home building.
