After almost two years of repairs, the Cherry Grove Pier in North Myrtle Beach is finally open to the public. Pier Manager Edgar Stephens announced that it opened at 11 a.m. on Friday for walking and fishing. While the benches are still being repaired, Stephens suggested that visitors bring a chair. The pier will only be open about 2/3 of the way out initially, as the rest of the repairs are completed.

The Cherry Grove Pier has been closed since it was severely damaged during Hurricane Ian in 2022, which caused strong storm surges, winds, and rain in Horry County.

The reopening of the pier was initially planned for September, but delays in construction pushed back the opening date to this spring. The pier has undergone rebuilding before due to previous hurricane damage since it first opened in the 1950s.
