Fire broke out early Wednesday morning at Burky’s Grill, one of Myrtle Beach’s beloved restaurant establishments.
Operating in the city for multiple decades, the grill is known to both locals and tourists for its famous hot dogs and hamburgers.
The Myrtle Beach Fire Department said crews were called to Burky’s Grill at 4001 North Kings Highway around 5:45 a.m.
There is smoke damage throughout the restaurant, according to Myrtle Beach Fire Capt. Jon Evans.
The HVAC system also caused a small fire on the roof.
No one was inside at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Wayne Burkart, owner of Burky’s Grill, said, “This is a temporary setback. We will reopen bigger, better, and sooner.“
Burkhart said he appreciated his loyal local customers and repeat tourist customers during this time and looks forward to serving them again in the future.
The cause of the fire will not be determined for some time, Evans said.
When MyrtleBeachSC News arrived on the scene, A&I Fire Restoration had already begun assessing damages. An insurance adjuster was also on the scene.
