MyrtleBeachSC News has been alerted by fans that a cloned “personal” Facebook page imitating our news team is now messaging fans about the upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 23rd election in District 33.

The cloned page is using Facebook messenger telling voters untruths about John Gallman.

The message will come with an official looking news heading like this.

Cloned image sent as messenger name

The cloned cyber attacks are coming from the Luke Rankin campaign. PLEASE NOTE: MYRTLEBEACHSC NEWS WILL NOT BE SENDING OUT FACEBOOK MESSAGES BETWEEN NOW AND TUESDAY.

We reached out to Attorney Aalok Sharma at White & Case LLP
, White and Case are Facebook’s attorneys. We asked the legal team to have the personal page taken down. As of this publication, they have not.

The personal page has the first name: Myrtle and a last name: BeachSC

We have also reached out to the Chris Whitmore of the S.C. Elections Commission, as well as, S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson.

Our attorneys will be filing formal complaints with all of the above tomorrow.

At MyrtleBeachSC News, we believe elections matter.

Please join us in reaching out to https://www.facebook.com/lukerankinsc/ and ask Senator Rankin to take down the cloned personal page his team created.

If FACEBOOK policies allow our page to be cloned this way, please know that this same effort can be done to every major media outlet in America.

WE ARE ALL AT RISK HERE
