Laurens County Administrator Jon Caime is one of the five remaining candidates for Horry County Administrator to be interviewed by Horry County Council this coming Wednesday at 1 p.m.

William “Jon” Caime became Laurens County Administrator in 2016 and currently resides in Laurens County, S.C. He has previously served as county administrator for Hart County, Georgia for fifteen years.

Caime’s “Myers – Briggs” personality profile identifies him as a detail, driver leader. He has a natural gift of leadership. This profile is a perfect fit for the current job description.

In addition to County Administrator, Mr. Caime previously held the position of county engineer and assistant county administrator for Oconee County, S.C. and has also functioned as operations manager for the Rust-Clemson Technical Center in Anderson, S.C.

Administrator Caime studied at the Carl Vincent Institute of Government at the University of Georgia and the South Carolina Executive Institute of Government. He has a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Clemson University.

HIGH PRAISE FROM S.C. REPRESENTATIVE

“Caime really shook things up in Laurens County, ending a history of good ole boy politics.”

We spoke with S.C. Representative Stewart O. Jones from Laurens today. Said Jones, “I served on Laurens County Council for years when Jon first took office. He is a game changer and willing to make the tough calls needed. We fought together to continue a budget review process which showed how the county had wasted monies for years. I highly recommend Jon for the job as Horry County Administrator.

Jones went on to say that Caime put an end to historic good ole boy, back door deals in the county. “He really shook things up in a positive way. His character is above reproach.

MyrtleBeachSC news will be providing continued coverage of this event.
