Jorge Orellana actually fell to his death from the from the 6th floor as he attempted to scale the balcony to escape gun fire in the hotel room.
Police officers from the Myrtle Beach Police Department were called to the sixth floor of Hotel Blue at 705 S. Ocean Blvd around 1 a.m. due to a disturbance. Upon investigation, it was discovered that several gunshots had been fired inside the room.
Jorge Orellana, 27, died of “massive” upper body trauma just after 6 a.m. at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said in an email.
Orellana tried to exit the room by going out onto the balcony and descending the back of the building. He ultimately fell before he could reach the fifth floor.
Jorge Orellana, a 27-year-old resident of Hendersonville, North Carolina, was transported to the hospital following an incident where he later succumbed to his injuries.
