GARDEN CITY, S.C. — Greg’s Cabana Bar & Grill (gregscabana.com), in cooperation with Sysco Foods of Columbia, has partnered with Help 4 Kids & Backpack Buddies of Horry County (help4kidssc.org) to distribute more than 250 hams to families in need just in time for Easter Sunday. Help4Kids & Backpack Buddies — a 100% volunteer organization that relies solely on donations — aims to help children in need so they do not go to school hungry or without proper clothing, shoes or school supplies.
Dubbed “Do Good on Good Friday,” the Easter ham donation event — scheduled to take place on April 10 — will provide 8 to 10-pound hams to families that have been identified by Help 4 Kids & Backpack Buddies. Help 4 Kids volunteers will assist in distributing the hams to selected families. Where necessary, Help 4 Kids will make arrangements to deliver to families without transportation.
“During this difficult time, our customer base within the local community has been exceptionally supportive,” said Richard Hafer, co-owner and managing partner of Greg’s. It was our turn to pay that support forward.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hafer, his business partner, Hank Imani, and Greg’s employees have been providing take-out and curbside pick-up orders to Garden City and surrounding residents since March 18.
“We know there are countless families in our area that are struggling with putting food on the table during this very challenging time,” added Imani. “We wanted to do everything we could to ensure that we are helping the best way we know how — feeding hungry people.”
