On Tuesday, Eddie Detres was arrested in Myrtle Beach and charged with felony first-degree domestic violence.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department (MBPD) responded to an assault Monday in a wooded area between 27th and 25th Avenue South near a Waffle House on Kings Highway.

An officer arrived at the Waffle House and took a statement from the victim, who told police that her boyfriend, Eddie Detres, assaulted her.

After the victim denied Detres’ accusations, he allegedly began hitting her in the head with a shovel, believing she had stolen from him while he was sleeping.

It was observed that the victim had a swollen hand, in line with her claim that she had used her hands to block the shovel blows.

Officers searched the wooded area where the assault took place but did not find Detres. The victim fled from Detres by running to a nearby Waffle House.

The following day, Eddie Detres was arrested on-view.

Eddie Detres has been arrested several times, including a second-degree assault and battery charge in February, according to online records.

The Waffle House in Myrtle Beach is located at 711 Frontage Road East. It is in the area of what locals called the now famously closed “crack Food Lion”.
