Max Metcalf named Vice-Chairman of the South Carolina Department of Transportation Commission

Columbia, S.C. (January 18, 2024) – Max Metcalf, of Greenville County, was named Vice-Chairman of the South Carolina Department of Transportation Commission at the Commission’s January 18, 2024 meeting in Columbia.

Metcalf said, “I am pleased to serve as the next Vice-Chairman for the SCDOT Commission. Along with my fellow commissioners, I remain committed to improving the transportation network in South Carolina and I look forward to building on the momentum we have established.”

Max Metcalf, Manager of Government and Community Relations at BMW Manufacturing, has been appointed to the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Commission representing the 4th Congressional District.

Metcalf is the Manager of Government and Community Relations at BMW Manufacturing and was appointed to the SCDOT Commission representing the 4th congressional district in May of 2022.

Metcalf is a 1986 graduate of Clemson University where he received a Bachelor’s in Arts degree in Economics.

Metcalf was the Director of Transportation and Intergovernmental Relations in the Office of Governor Carroll A. Campbell, Jr.; District Administrator for the Office of Congressman Bob Inglis; and Vice President of Public Policy with the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce until joining BMW in 2001.

In addition, he is past Chairman of the Board of Directors, Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce; past Chairman of the SC Manufacturers Alliance; past Chairman, Upstate SC Alliance; Secretary-Treasurer, South Carolina Charities, Inc., dba/ BMW Charity Pro Am presented by TD SYNNEX; and a member of AdvanceSC.

Metcalf is a 1993 recipient of the Order of the Palmetto. He is married and has a daughter.
