Myrtle Beach church donates $30,700.88 to basketball coach diagnosed with stage 4 cancer

This past Sunday was Easter Sunday at local churches.

Easter Sunday is among the highest weekends for tithing in practically every American church. Church attendance is also peak on Easter Sunday.

Palmetto Pointe Church of God chose to donate its entire church offering to Socastee Varsity Basketball Coach Derek Hilton.

Hilton is known by his students as Senior Hilton.

The congregation raised $30,700.88 to assist with treatment as the coach has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

In a post on Facebook, church member Jamie Maddie Barfield said, “Palmetto Pointe Church of God family, you all are amazing! 

Senior Hilton, you’re in our prayers every day. I’m blown away at the generosity of our church family.”
