The jury deliberated for a total of 4 minutes today before returning a verdict of not guilty for Weldon Boyd and Buoys Restaurant.

The City of North Myrtle Beach issued a ticket to the restaurant owner, Weldon Boyd, on May 8, 2020 for “supposedly” violating Governor Henry McMaster’s Covid emergency mandate 2020-10.

The jury would have none of that.

A full day of testimony on Monday, showed a consistent bias of the town towards Boyd, who often posts on social media about Buoys Restaurant, as well as, issues in the town of North Myrtle Beach.

AND, as our article of early this morning reports: North Myrtle Beach ignored “best policing practice” guidelines issued by the State Law Enforcement Division [SLED]. SLED works under the authority of the governor and is the highest, most authoritative policing agency in S.C.

It is unclear, but doubtful that the City of North Myrtle Beach will appeal this not guilty decision.

Mike Mahaney, North Myrtle Beach City Manager, informed MyrtleBeachSC News this morning by email, that he would get back with our news group on why the city chose not to follow SLED’s BEST POLICING PRACTICE guidelines when issuing this ticket.
