The Beach House Golf and Racquet Club, an Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Timeshare remains closed 9 months after emergency shutdown July 2023.

A banner on the resort’s website reads:

According to timeshare owners, the management company of the resort, Capital Vacations, informed them in a letter last year that the resort was likely to remain closed for the remainder of 2023 and potentially beyond.

As we now are approaching peak tourism season, there are still no timelines as to when the timeshare will reopen.

Last July, the oceanfront timeshare, experienced an abrupt closure due to structural problems discovered by engineers in the main building, which includes the front desk, offices, fitness center, activity center, and laundry facility.

Capital Vacations stated that the closure would be brief, July 2023, as they estimated it would only take a few weeks to install a shoring system to secure the building.

Nevertheless, the management company verified that engineers discovered the requirement for significant repairs following the installation.

Misha Foust, a timeshare owner, started getting ready for her vacation towards the end of summer, only to realize that she didn’t need to pack her bags after all.

Foust was initially informed that the facility would only be closed temporarily and would reopen in September 2023. However, upon checking closer to their planned week in September, they were told that the closure would actually be for an “extended period of time”.

Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Timeshare Update

Foust mentioned that Capital Vacations then began allowing timeshare owners to choose from four options, including a buyout, with a deadline at the end of January 2024.

In January 2024, Capital Vacations informed local media that engineers were assessing the structural stability of the building and planned to provide a report soon. MyrtleBeachSC News has not been able to find any such report as of today’s publication.

Once an oceanfront property closes for structural issues, the brand integrity of the timeshare resort can take a tremendous hit. Consumer communications should be clear and very public.

Public communications and updates by Capital Vacations on the Myrtle Beach timeshare closure have been sparse.

It is now unclear when the resort will reopen.
