Letter to the editors from Steven Hawkins
Springtime and summer in Myrtle Beach is such a Beautiful time in the Grand Strand area. During April and May hotel business starts to pick up. It is such an awesome time in the Myrtle Beach area when it starts to get warm before summer vacation time begins. I hope to come back to the Myrtle Beach area again this year with my many family and friends. There are four things that I intend to enjoy while I enjoy the sun and sand of Myrtle Beach. And those Four things include: Enjoying the Hotels of the Grand Strand area, Shopping at the Grand Coastal Mall, Dining out at Myrtle Beach, and also enjoying arcade games at the Former Myrtle Beach Pavilion.
The hotels my family and I stayed at during our many visits to Myrtle Beach during the years were Court Capri and Patricia Grand Hotels. These are side by side on North Ocean Boulevard, which is the main drag of hotels along the Myrtle Beach coastline. The water also gets warm along the shore of the beach and in the pools during April and May every year.
So around this time we enjoy the warm spa during the night time. But tourists can enjoy the pool and coast around May during the daytime!
When I was very young I remembered my Mother Janice Jones Hawkins and siblings Richard, Debbie, and Lillie Hawkins would enjoy swimming in the heart shaped pool on the Top floor of the Court Capri Hotel. This is one of my Favorite memories of Myrtle Beach to this day.
You could also enjoy the heat of Myrtle Beach by Shopping at Broadway at the Beach or the Grand Coastal Mall in Myrtle Beach. My family for years used to dine, shop, and take in a Movie at the Broadway 16 movie theater at the Broadway at the Beach venue. In 2019 the Broadway 16 movie theater closed, but my Family looks forward to going to the movies at the AMC Myrtle Beach Mall for future movies at the Grand Strand area.
The Coastal Grande Mall, built in 2004, is South Carolina‘s second largest mall after Haywood Mall in the Upstate area in Greenville. Greenville is my hometown area! On my family’s future visit to the area, we look forward to going to the Cinemark Movie theater, which is located at Coastal Grande Mall. Going to movies at Myrtle Beach during Spring and summertime allows me to take off that sweater and coat and put on a tee shirt. I let your hair down! It is one of my family’s most wonderful pastimes and fun activities when we are at Myrtle Beach.
Also dining out at Myrtle Beach is also very wonderful when the weather gets warmer. They have some great dining and eating establishments along the South Kings Highway and North Kings Highway in the Myrtle Beach area. Restaurants such as Captain Benjamin’s Calabash Seafood Buffet at 401 South Kings Highway you could enjoy the very Best fresh seafood, vegetables, and salads on a warm spring day. We also enjoy summertime grilled-out Burgers, hot dogs, Barbeque, and corn dogs American food at the Cookout Restaurant there in Myrtle Beach. This is located at 1800 North Kings highway. Also all along North and South Kings Highway main drag you can find take out chicken restaurants such as Maryland Fried Chicken and Bojangles and five or six Krispy Kreme shops where you could pick up dessert and after dinner coffee. Myrtle Beach has wonderful dining establishments that tourists can enjoy during spring break and summer vacation.
The Arcades at the Former Myrtle Beach Pavilion is a Wonderful classic pastime that the young people of my family enjoy as they bask in the Grand Strand sun. Located at 912 South Ocean Boulevard, it has a Fun Arcade Plaza that is enjoyable during every summer vacation. These arcades offer a Row of Skee ball games, air hockey, claw-drop games, vintage penny baseball games, and a prize booth. I look forward to later this year coming back to this area with my brothers and nephews on a future visit to the Grand Strand area.
Springtime and Summer are something magical in Myrtle Beach. It is truly a place where we enjoy hot days and warm nights in the sun during vacation. It is also a place we cherish as we spend time with a significant other.
You could imagine she would go back and tell her mother and family all about the time she spent in Myrtle Beach with her leading man who worked hard to take her there! Myrtle Beach truly is a Beautiful place to spend your warm springtime and rocking summer days.
