Having a baby is one of the most wonderful things that you are ever going to experience. However, it’s not like this all the time. There are also plenty of things about being a new parent that people don’t seem to want to talk about, and often these are the important ones. But, by not talking about them, a lot of new parents feel as though they are failures and as though they are the only one struggling with these particular issues. In this article, we’re going to be talking about some of the things that we wish people would have told us about newborns. Keep reading down below if you would like to find out more.

Sometimes They Cry For No Reason

Sometimes, kids cry for no reason. You should pick up pretty quickly what cry means what, and your parental intuition will be helpful here as well. But, sometimes babies just cry. Sometimes this is for short periods of time and then they settle themselves. Sometimes this happens all the time and it can be exhausting. The latter is called colic, and there isn’t too much that you can do other than wait it out. You can try warm baths, burping them for a little longer and other methods like this, but they don’t work for everyone.

In these times, you have got to try and remember that it’s not anything that you are doing. Your baby doesn’t hate you, even if they settle in the arms of another instead of you. Sometimes they just want a different feeling for a while, and sometimes they just want to cry. Try not to take it to heart too much.

Breastfeeding Is Hard

We bet nobody ever sat down and told you how difficult breastfeeding is for some women. It’s really difficult to do if your baby doesn’t take to it straight away. Some babies latch on without a second thought, whereas other babies don’t take to it at all. Some mothers find it easy to do, and others don’t. But, if you find breastfeeding hard then you are not alone. There are some people who stick it out and keep trying until they get it, and there are others who don’t and switch to organic baby formula. Neither of these options is wrong, and you should never let anyone make you feel bad for how you are feeding your baby.

As long as your baby is getting fed, this is all that matters. It doesn’t matter about a single other thing, so you do whatever feels best for you.

You Will Likely Never Have Everything

Another thing to understand is that you are never going to have everything.  There is always going to be something that you have forgotten, something that you are going to have to run out and get, or something that slipped your mind. It’s okay. You don’t need to be completely put together and have everything possible all the time. You’re allowed to forget, you’re allowed to make mistakes and you’re also allowed not to have the newest version of everything. There are more important things than this in life.

However, there are some new mom postpartum essentials that you should have to make your life that little bit easier. Just take a look at the list and ensure that you have got this covered.

You Are A Fantastic Parent Because You’re Trying

The final thing that we want to say is that you are a fantastic mom because you are trying. There are so many moms out there that are struggling and feel as though they are failing just because they are finding it difficult. Being a new parent is difficult, so of course you’re going to feel that way. But, every single day you are showing up. You are feeding, you are changing, you are comforting, and you are doing everything in between. This is what makes you a fantastic parent, not what toys they have.

We know that you want your kids to have the best in life, but the best thing that they can have is a present parent.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that we all wish someone would have told us about newborns. Hopefully, if you are seeing this as a new mother or a mother to be, this has helped you to prepare somewhat for what is to come. We wish you the very best of luck.
