Tourists evacuated from Myrtle Beach Resort, Renaissance Towers, for critical foundation concerns

Horry County Fire and rescue began evacuating tourists staying in the 24 story high-rise, Renaissance Towers, of the Myrtle Beach Resort at 4 p.m. today.

Some guests left the property with nothing more than a suitcase and the clothes they were wearing.

Authorities say a construction contractor’s heavy equipment hit a foundation beam at the 24 story tower. Tourists are being evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

CONTROVERSY

Yet a letter sent out by Empress Management to the Renaissance Towers condo owners stated their findings, rather, un-covered preexisting foundational issues.

ABOUT MYRTLE BEACH RESORT

Myrtle Beach Resort sits on 33 oceanfront acres and provides visitors with a large assortment of one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom condos.

Located in Surfside Beach, this resort is 2.5 miles south of the Myrtle Beach State Park and Market Common. The resort was built in 1986.

The resort features 6 swimming pools and a 375-foot lazy river.

The resort also features an indoor fitness center, outdoor tennis and volleyball courts. An on-site children’s playground is also available.

At the time of publishing, no word was given on when tourists would be allowed back into their rooms at the 24 story high-rise tower.
