The Tunnel To Towers Foundation walk and run will be held this Saturday in Market Common, Myrtle Beach.

The event begins at the intersection of Nevers Street and Farrow Parkway.  Drivers and runners, expect detours and road blocks at The Market Common on race day.  The Tunnel to Towers Foundation memorializes the sacrifice of all first responders on September 11, including Stephen Siller.  A 34 year old firefighter in Brooklyn, Siller responded to the call on September 11 by strapping 60 pounds of equipment and gear on his back and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, the longest tunnel in New York City (approximately 1.7 miles long), to rescue people in the World Trade Center.  Siller gave his life to save others, and his story inspired the annual nationwide events.  To sign up as a participant or volunteer, see https://bit.ly/MyrtleBeachTunnels2Towers5K2023.

At its core, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is driven by a noble purpose – to honor the sacrifice of first responders and military personnel who risk their lives daily for our safety. Established in memory of fallen firefighter Stephen Siller, this organization seeks to provide support and assistance to those who serve and protect.

Through various initiatives, the foundation aims to ensure that families of fallen heroes are taken care of. They understand the emotional and financial burdens these families face after losing a loved one in service. From paying off mortgages or providing temporary housing, to facilitating educational programs for children left behind, the foundation stands as a beacon of hope during difficult times.

Additionally, they strive to build specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans so they can regain their independence and improve their quality of life. These homes are equipped with cutting-edge technology tailored to meet each individual’s needs.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation also believes in supporting Gold Star Families through events such as its annual 5K run/walk held across the country. This event not only serves as a tribute but also raises funds that go towards fulfilling the foundation’s mission.
