52 year old, Horry County Schools’ Vice Chair Board Member, John Poston passed yesterday.

“It’s just unbelievable, it’s devastating,” Horry County School Board Member David Cox said.

Churches across Horry County will be holding prayer vigils for the family today.

Said Ken Richardson (Horry County School Board Chairman), “I am heartbroken.”

Horry County is a tight knit unit of largely conservative, Christian residents. John Poston embodied all that is good in Horry County.

He worked tirelessly for teachers and students in the face of the deadly Covid 19 disease in 2020, only to succumb to the disease himself yesterday.

Prayer vigils will also be held today in the Aynor community. Aynor consistently rates as among the best school in our state. Shanda Allen represents the Aynor district on the school board.

Her husband, Al Allen, is the pastor of Rapid Fire Ministries. Al Allen also serves on Horry County Council representing the Aynor Area.
