BEACHES REMAIN CLOSED INDEFINITELY

At a press conference today, S.C. Governor Henry McMaster announced the state will open up boat ramps for fishing and outdoor activities right away.

Beaches remain closed.

The Governor also shared some “broad strokes” of how the state’s economy will ramp back up. McMaster said he will announce next week details of “Accelerate SC” to get the economy going again.

McMaster sent a letter to the S.C. General Assembly today. In the letter, McMaster said, “…I believe – and hope- that by late June that risk will have diminished to the extent that businesses and activities in our state may be safely resumed and conducted using personal safety precautions.”

However, a spokesman for the Governor said, “businesses will be re-opened long before late June, but not before it is safe for South Carolinians.”

As of April 15th, 107 people in South Carolina have died from the Coronavirus.
