How is the meat market performing, and is there still a demand for it, in light of the growing popularity of veganism and meat-free diets? Think about the advantages of eating meat, and then think about the alternatives that can give you the same advantages.

What percentage of the population is interested in a vegan diet?

Vegetarianism’s popularity has skyrocketed in the previous five years. You’ll need to put down the chicken and steak and say goodbye to honey and eggs and milk too.

Approximately 700,000 people have committed to participating in Veganuary 2023, during which they would forego animal products for the entire month of January. More than 2.5 million people have signed up for Veganuary since the campaign began in 2014.  According to the latest data, in 2023, 706,965 People Worldwide Signed Up for a Veganuary, which increased to 1.8 Million in January 2024.

Veganism is popular because many individuals feel strongly about protecting animals and believe they should not be farmed for the purpose of being killed and eaten. To improve their health, some people choose to follow a vegan diet.

What about the downsides, though? Is it really a bed of roses to give up meat? In a nutshell: probably not.

Why Eating Meat Is Good For You

There are many advantages to eating meat that cannot be found in plant-based alternatives.

Meat is a wonderful source of protein and a number of essential nutrients, including zinc, iron, vitamins D and B12, and calcium. Zinc helps the body manufacture antibodies that fight against illness, so you can get better from whatever ails you much more quickly.

For the same quantity of iron, meat eaters and vegetarians need to eat twice as much iron-rich foods. Therefore, vegans, who do not consume any animal products (including milk, cheese, and even honey), take in far less iron and must consume additional iron-rich foods to make up for this.

Products High in Iron

In order to get enough iron if you’re a vegan, try some of these options:

Lentils; figs; dates; red kidney beans; nuts; dried apricots; kale; tofu; dried figs; dried dates; nuts; dried apricots; lentils; spinach; sweet potatoes; broccoli; kale

Where do you stand on the meat market?

Meat output has more than tripled in the last 50 years, indicating a huge market and demand. Even as the demand increases, more and more individuals are beginning to investigate veganism thanks to campaigns like Veganuary.

Superior Nutrition

It is crucial for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or location, to eat a diet that is both balanced and healthful. However, many people, particularly in developing nations, do not have the luxury of affording meat, even if they like to consume it.

The staples of these countries’ diets, like oatmeal, corn, and rice, are low in nutrients and leave people hungry. Everyone, from infants and young toddlers to the elderly, can be affected by this since it can have an impact on health, development, and focus.

Different Faiths’ and Cultures’ Views on Meat

Meat is revered in many faiths and cultures, and for good reason: it’s a vital part of a healthy diet. Observant Muslims, for instance, donate an animal each year as part of a ritual called Qurbani 2023 that aims to benefit the impoverished and destitute. In this ritual, an animal is sacrificed and the meat is distributed to the people experiencing poverty. Doing so in the name of alleviating poverty is possible in every nation.

Countries like India, Bangladesh, Palestine, the Gambia, and Sri Lanka often give the meat from the yearly Qurbani ritual, which is a form of prayer and charity. In spite of this, it might be given to the neighbors.
