There was some contention at the S.C. House Judiciary Committee — Ad Hoc Committee to Examine the Judicial Selection and Retention Process in S.C. (Judicial Reform in SC Committee)

Prosecutors including 1st Solicitor David Pascoe and 16th Solicitor Kevin Brackett explained the conflicts and ethics of having lawyer legislators pick our S.C. Family Court and Criminal Court Judges.

Not mentioned, but in the consciousness, were the ever present shadows of Horry County Senator Luke Rankin and infamous 15th Circuit Family Court Judge Bromell Holmes.

UNBELIEVABLE: “Law Firm tells client about Bromell Holmes court case: “If You Want Your Kids, you’ll have to buy your kids.”

In the video just above, Senator Luke Rankin speaks of an attorney that, in Rankin’s words, praised Judge Bromell Holmes. This same attorney is heard on recording saying that the only way the client could get his children is to pay for them.

Meanwhile that same attorney’s boss, Julaan Derrick, speaking of Judge Bromell Holmes, says to her client, “You know what your problem is? The bitch in Georgetown in black robes. She’s been doing this shit for years.… I’ve watched her do it. “

In the same video just above, Solicitor Pascoe provides a recording of Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey saying, “They [Elected House of Representative members] are very protective of their [Judicial] candidates. And there is a lot of vote swapping that goes on in the [S.C.] House.”

Solicitors across the state are asking the “Ad Hoc Committee to Examine the Judicial Selection and Retention Process in S.C.” to remove all Lawyer Legislators from the Judicial Merit Selection Commission. Solicitors believe this is the fastest way to a start in judicial reform in SC.

We were told confidentially by one state rep. that neither Senate Judiciary Chairman Luke Rankin nor House Minority Leader Todd Rutherford will ever allow Lawyer Legislators to be removed from the JMSC. Rankin and Rutherford are each attorneys.
